When you add a file to Nomad, it moves through three phases automatically:
- Upload — Your file is transferred to Nomad. Large files are sent in chunks and reassembled automatically.
- Processing — Nomad analyzes the content, extracting metadata, generating transcripts, creating proxies, and building search indexes.
- Available — Processing is complete. Your asset is ready to stream, download, search, and share.
You can track exactly where an asset is in this journey by checking its status.

| Uploading | Your file is being transferred to Nomad. |
| Assembling | Upload is complete. The file is being finalized and prepared for processing. |
| Registering | An existing file is being linked to Nomad as a new asset. |

| Restored | This asset was previously archived and has been successfully restored. It is now fully accessible. |

| Moving | The asset is being moved to a different location in your library. |
| Copying | A copy of the asset is being created. |
| Replacing | The asset's content is being replaced with a new file. Processing will restart automatically. |
| Clipping | A clip is being created from this video asset. |
| Deleting | This asset is being permanently removed. |

| PendingArchive | This asset is queued to be moved to long-term storage. It will not be accessible once archived. |
| Archiving | The asset is being moved to long-term storage. |
| Archived | This asset is in long-term storage. To access it again you must restore it — restoration typically takes a few hours. |
| PendingRestore | A restore request has been submitted. The asset will become available once retrieval is complete. |
| Restoring | The asset is being retrieved from long-term storage. This typically takes a few hours. |
